Laura, a fellow photographer on the island, talked to me last summer about how she and her husband were thinking about adding to the family. So, when she called and said they were pregnant, I was thrilled!! I was even more thrilled when Laura asked me to capture her for a maternity session—it’s always such an honor when a fellow creative mind admires your work enough to trust you with something like this.

In late December, Laura sent me a picture via Facebook and said, “Guess what this is?” It was the cutest little ultrasound photo, with her in the background holding up 2 fingers.

“Oh my gosh you are having twins?” I replied, then proceeded to type a whole bunch of exclamation and question marks to her. I couldn’t even believe it! So, Laura and Andrew are having twin girls to add to the two adorable little girls they already have—one who loves photos and one who would love to never have to take photos again in her life. I’m sure you can tell me which one is which. 🙂

We headed out to the east side of the island for some family photos and started in Waimanalo on one of the most beautiful beaches on the island. We then decided that one of the maternity gowns Laura wanted to wear would look best in a wooded area, so off we went to find a secluded little piece of forest!

I had also spoken to Laura about doing some super secret photos for her husband—and for her, to remember this special time in her life. Don’t worry, she gave me permission to post these gorgeous images! I am so proud of her for stepping out of her comfort zone and allowing me to capture her.
